This week our Federal Parliament is recalled to debate rapidly prepared “hate speech” laws. A defence to an allegation of hate speech will be that the speaker is quoting religious texts. Hence, I pose the question to you of whether the speaker in the attached clip is or is not engaging in hate speech (all be it in Israel rather than Australia, but readily accessible in Australia).
The speaker is Meir Ben-Shitrit, one of the Israeli soldiers accused of assaulting a Palestinian detainee at Sde Teiman prison, (by forcing a metal pipe into his anus, causing significant injuries – the release of the video of the assault led to the arrest of the whistleblower and the court in which the accused, including Ben-Shitrit were appearing was stormed by a group outraged that they had been charged, a group that included sitting politicians – Heroes and Whistleblowers – Mediation + conciliation Australia | Harman Dispute Resolution).

I have also pasted a link of settler animal abuse in the West Bank (just in case there was any belief that these fine people had any legitimacy). But a very serious trigger warning must be provided-the footage is distressing.
I attach it as the question you might ask yourself is why you don’t see this in the western media.
I make clear that I do not draw attention to the above clips to apply a double standard or requiring behaviour not expected or demanded of any other person or nation. I would expect that anyone making the statements that Meir Ben-Shitrit makes or engaging in animal cruelty would be criticised, condemned and prosecuted. But they are not. That, in itself, is the double standard.
