On 13 March 2026, the Satsuma Baby declared that “These deranged scumbags have been killing innocent people all over the world for 47 years”. He then added “I am killing them. What a great honour it is to kill them”.
Well, of course, the Satsuma Baby isn’t killing anyone himself. No, the bone spurs that excused him from being drafted to fight in the Vietnam War stops him doing it himself. Others follow his orders and put themselves in harm’s way, while he and his family rake in the profits.
The United States, the world’s leading state sponsor of terror, has, indeed, been killing people for 47 years, in fact, much longer than that.
The United States – Those folks who brought you shock and awe in Iraq and Afghanistan. And who can forget the defining image of America’s success in Afghanistan, the picture of Major General Donahue walking up the ramp of the last flight out of Kabul (not a criticism of Mr Donahue but of America being there in the first place). Or, perhaps, the more iconic image might be from earlier in the day when dozens of Afghanis, terrified and desperate, clung to the fuselages of departing American planes, only for them to fall, like confetti, as those American planes left the ground for safety, leaving behind the chaos they had created and the graves of millions.
The United States – Those folk who lied about Iraq’s non-existent weapons of Mass Destruction (and had the sycophants Blair and Howard so quickly on board) and used that lie as an excuse to depose and execute the leader they had supported in waging war on Iran, but who had become “inconvenient” and non-co-operative.
The United States – Those folk who 50 years earlier, were responsible for pictures of napalmed children, the My Lai massacre (the US is so careful never to harm civilians, even though Hesgeth won’t let inconvenient rules of engagement get in the way), helicopters leaving the roof of the US embassy in Saigon in 1975, those helicopters then being tipped from the decks of aircraft carriers as, America abandoned Vietnam, but not before nearly one and half million Vietnamese died and nearly 60,000 US soldiers.
The United States – Those folk who in the 19th Century “Indian Wars” alone killed over 350,000 First Nations Americans, through violence and starvation, whose President Johnson (the Satsuma Baby’s idol) proudly proclaimed himself an “Indian killer”. Hell, they even proudly boasted of testing the Hotchkiss revolving canon on the Lakota at Wounded Knee (just as Elbit Systems proclaim that their killing weapons have been “battle tested” on the Palestinian people).
The United States – Those folk who don’t care about the death toll as long as the dead aren’t American or white and as long as there’s a profit to be made.
The United States – Those folk who incarcerate more of their own people (mainly, though not exclusively, the black and brown ones) than any other nation on earth (even more than those nations they criticise and label as authoritarian or terrorist).
The United States – Those folks who built a nation on slavery and forced labour and then racial segregation, Jim Crow, lynching and all the time calling themselves the “home of the free”, for whom America being “great” again would be the coloureds knowing their place and keeping to it, the gays getting back in the closet and the privileged not required to share their wealth, power or space.
The United States – Those folk who provide tax cuts for the obscenely rich while cutting health care and social security for the poorest, who criminalise homelessness, rather than addressing the conditions that create homelessness and who fund masked ICE agents to shoot and kill citizens and to deport peaceful immigrants while “saving” white South Africans from having to live with black South Africans.
The United States – Those folk who cry buckets of tears over the death of their favourite hatemonger, but who are unmoved by the murder of their own citizens by ICE agents, calling those victims “domestic terrorists”.
The United States – Those folk who arm the most deranged killers in the Middle East, who invade and annex Gaza, the West Bank and the Golan Heights as well as their neighbours, with impunity, knowing that the United States will veto any Security Council resolution and who seek to create their own “Board of Peace” to dispose, exploit and make profit from the suffering of Israel’s victims.
The United States – who are so casual in their approach to slaughter of others that the Satsuma Baby can make comments like:
“You could make the case that maybe we shouldn’t even be there at all, but we do it… It’s almost like we do it for habit.”
“We may hit it a few more times just for fun”
‘It’s more fun to sink them. They like sinking them better”
The United States – Those folk who bomb a girl’s school and deny it, then admit it but then say nothing.
The United States – Those folk who, since 1979, have instigated wars, openly or covertly, that have killed millions, wars such as:
Guatemala 200,000 killed
Angola 800,000 killed
Nicaragua wars 30,000 killed
El Salvador 75,000 killed
Afghanistan 2,500,000 killed
Iran 500,000 killed
Libya 50,000 killed
Lebanon 200,000 killed
Grenada (Operation Urgent Fury) 100 killed
Honduras 10,000 killed
Iraq 1,000,000 killed
Kurdish Wars 300,000 killed
Panama 7,000 killed
Somalia 3,000 killed
Haiti 60,000 killed
Liberia 250,000 killed
Sudan 150,000 killed
Yemen 377,000 killed
Congo 7,500,000 killed
Burkino Faso, Mali and Niger 1,000 killed
Syria 650,000 killed
Nigeria 1,000 killed
Venezuela 100 killed
Ecuador 15,000 killed
Drone strikes and extra-judicial killings around the world 8,000
Boat strikes Pacific/Caribbean 170 people killed
School shootings 1,000 killed
University shootings 76 killed
Police shootings 30,000 killed
State executions 1,659 killed
Deaths in custody 150,000 killed
And when it would be indecorous for the United States to kill people themselves, or if they don’t want to directly fight and risk casualties or poor publicity, they arm the killers-Israel (after all, their slaughter of Palestinians and the Lebanese is for all us, we are told), Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, and Kuwait, the Mujahideen, the Contras, all nations and groups with exceptional human rights records.
And when you are concerned that the Iranian regime is visiting violence on its own populace? You and your collaborators indiscriminately rain death down upon them.
As the recently passed Joe McDonald sang (in “I feel like I’m Fixin’ to Die Rag”, written about the heroic US slaughter in Vietnam):
…You know that peace could only be won
When we’ve blown them all to kingdom come
Is it time to ask, who are the sponsors of terror?
Is it time to choose our friends more carefully?
